Adult Enrichment Centres

The Long-Term Care Division operates two Adult Enrichment Centres for seniors who continue to live in their own homes. There’s a warm welcome in your neighborhood at the Adult Enrichment Centre where qualified professional staff are specifically trained to care for and be sensitive to the needs of families we serve. The Enrichment Centres are uniquely designed for seniors.

The Adult Enrichment Centres (AEC) are located at Lambton Meadowview Villa in Petrolia and Marshall Gowland Manor in Sarnia.

The Petrolia Site at Lambton Meadowview Villa supports participants and their families with the challenge of coping with the effects of Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia 3 days per week and also provides seniors, who have physical challenges and/or frailties, opportunities for recreation and socialization one day weekly.

The Sarnia Site at Marshall Gowland Manor provides seniors, who have physical challenges or early stage dementias, opportunities for recreation and socialization, five days a week.

What is the Benefit to my Loved One?
Attendance provides your family member with something to do. He or she can continue to feel productive. Games and activities help maintain physical and mental abilities. Studies have shown that participants in a formal program are generally able to remain in the community longer than those who don’t. Participants have an opportunity to socialize, make new friends and share experiences. Qualified staff monitor the needs of each individual and identify conditions that need intervention.

What is the Benefit to the Caregiver?
Participation in the Adult Enrichment Programs allows caregivers respite and relief from the demands of daily caregiving while their loved one is in a safe environment with specially trained, caring staff.

Hours of Operation
Flexible hours are available from 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. depending on your need. The cost of $12.00 per day includes all program supplies, nutritious meals and snacks. Transportation to the Petrolia Site is provided. Transportation to the Sarnia Site must be arranged by caregivers.

A Unique Design
Our Programs are designed with open and quiet areas, full kitchen facilities, wheelchair accessibility and gardens. The home-like environment is safe, secure and beautifully custom-designed for the support and enjoyment of our participants.

Come, Visit Us!
Family members, caregivers and health care professionals are always welcome to call for more information or a tour of our unique facilities. Our staff will be happy to help you with the simple application process.

A Program Designed for You!
Join us for a choice of enjoyable activities – all specially adapted for people unable to attend traditional community and social programs. Whether you enjoy crafts, gardening, pets, music, meal preparation, exercise, group discussion, games, projects, outings or special events and parties, we’ll design a program to suit you. Our Day Program team develops an individual Program Plan in consultation with each participant and family. Daily journals help share activities and news.

Personal Care
Our high staff and volunteer to participant ratio means that we have people to help. This allows us to provide personal care such as assistance with ambulation, toileting, incontinence care and one or two person transfers.
