County Landfills

In January of 1991, the County of Lambton, under the Sarnia-Lambton Act, assumed responsibility for the waste disposal activities within the County boundaries. As such, the County assumed the ownership of six existing waste disposal facilities that were previously operated by the lower tier municipalities of Brooke, Dawn, Grand Bend, Moore, Sarnia and Sombra. The Dawn Facility continues to accept waste as per the terms of its Certificate of Approval (C. of A.). The remaining five facilities (Brooke, Grand Bend, Moore,  Sarnia, and Sombra) have been closed by the County, however, environmental monitoring and post-closure care continues on an ongoing basis, as stipulated in the respective C. of A.s.

Additional information can be obtained by contacting the County of Lambton’s Public Works Department at 519 845-0801, 1-866-324-6912 or by visiting our office at 789 Broadway Street, Wyoming, Ontario, during regular business hours (Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm).
