Sarnia, ON – Canada has a reputation for peace keeping, however it could be argued that this reputation was created on the battlefields of Western France in 1918.
On Monday November 6, 2006 at 7:00 PM in the West Room of the Sarnia Library, the short video “The Last 100 Days: Victory of Amiens” will be viewed. The film was created and is narrated by actor Paul Gross. Through the words of ordinary soldiers, leaders and civilians it illustrates Canada’s contribution to the Allied victory in World War One. The string of successful attacks starting with the Battle of Amiens established Canada’s reputation for military success, vital for our role as successful peace keepers.
“The film will be followed by a discussion,” says Reference Librarian and host Jeff Beeler. “This will be an opportunity to share information and learn something about what Remembrance Day and the role of the Canadian Armed Forces is all about.” Seating is limited; please call the Reference Department at 337-3291 to reserve your seat.
