Wyoming, ON – At its regular meeting on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 12:30 p.m., Lambton County Council:

  • Received a presentation from Ms. Sue McLean, CEO of the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation.  Ms. McLean spoke to Council about the Middlesex Hospital Alliance’s programs and services as they relate to the residents of Lambton County and made a funding request for 2008 in the amount of $245, 302 for a ten year period.
  • Received a presentation from Mr. Robert Murray, Campaign Chair, St. Joseph’s Hospice, who spoke to Council about a $100,000 grant request (over a three-five year period) in support of the St. Joseph’s Hospice and the residential hospice building project.
  • Received a presentation from Ms. Mary Ellen Warren, Executive Director, Sarnia-Lambton Rebound, in association with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Sarnia-Lambton.  Ms.  Warren spoke to County Council regarding the group’s funding request for the Dow Centre for Youth.
  • Received a presentation from Mr. David McPhail, Board Chair, Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce, who spoke to County Council about the County of Lambton draft 2008 budget.
  • Directed staff to provide a report concerning the installation of a flashing light attached above stop signs located at the intersection of Brigden Road and County Road #4 (Petrolia Line).
  • Directed staff to continue developing a Master Agreement for the management of various County lands with the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA).   Council also directed staff to work with the SCRCA and local authorities to improve signage, review access points and increase enforcement with an initial focus on the County Heritage Forest.
  • Noted that Council will continue its budget deliberations on Wednesday, March 19 at 9 am in the County of Lambton’s Council Chambers, 789 Broadway Street, Wyoming.  Council’s next regular meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 19 at 12:30 p.m.
