Sarnia, ON – Are you up to the challenge?

On June 4, the County of Lambton Active Transportation Committee challenges all Lambton County residents to participate in the Clean Air Day Commuter Challenge.

Gemma Fail, Health Promotion Officer with the County of Lambton Community Health Services Department says, “The Commuter Challenge is a friendly competition between communities to see which has the greatest percentage of green commuters. Green commuters are individuals who use active and sustainable modes of transportation like a bicycle, walk or carpool to work.”

“It is a great opportunity to make environmentally-friendly lifestyle choices, and a commitment to improve air quality by participating in activities organized in the community.”

Lambton County Active Transportation Committee is recruiting workplaces, promoting and coordinating the Challenge and will contact local businesses for event participation and donations.

For more information and resources to get started, visit the website www.lambtonhealth.on.ca. Daily participation results can be submitted to the Community Health Services Department at 519 344-2062 ext. 2161, toll free 1-800-387-2882 or by email to gemma.fail@county-lambton.on.ca.

If you know a community member who uses eco-friendly transportation year-round, please nominate them for the clean air champion award for 2008. Watch for more details.
