Sarnia, ON – Some public health programs and services will continue to be suspended in December to support the current pandemic response and flu vaccine delivery to residents.
"Our staff have been redirected to support the pandemic response, and as a result, some programs and services are suspended or cancelled," said Kevin Churchill, Manager, Health Promotion & Program Support.
Suspended / Cancelled programs / services include:
- Travel Walk-in Clinics: Community Health Services, December
- TB Clinics: Community Health Services, December
- Routine Vaccination appointments: Community Health Services, December
- Parent and Baby Drop-in Sessions: Children's Services, December
Regularly scheduled sexual health clinics in Point Edward, Petrolia and Forest will continue to be held, but with reduced staff so wait times may vary due to limited resources.
A public health nurse is available to parents if they have concerns about their baby's weight gain or growth and development, and if mothers need breastfeeding support.
Cancellations will be provided as they become available.
"We are continuing to monitor the local flu situation and to support local response efforts in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and Public Health Agency of Canada," said Chad Ikert, (A) Manager, Environmental Health & Prevention Services. "We are now rolling out the seasonal flu vaccine to all residents in addition to the pandemic (H1N1) flu vaccine and both vaccines can be provided during the same visit."
