Sarnia, ON – A new website that will help provide information to Circle Leaders, Allies and members of the community about Circles™, Lambton County's initiative to reduce poverty, was launched this week at www.lambtoncircles.com.

"We are very pleased to have this online home, where participants can access a meeting calendar and where people who don't know a lot about Circles™ can explore some of the history and learn about our local initiative here in Lambton," said Gayle Montgomery, Circles Coordinator.

In September 2008, Lambton County Council approved the implementation of Circles™ as the community based model for reducing the number of people living in poverty in the County of Lambton.   The initiative began in 2009 and the community received a visit from Scott Miller, CEO and co-founder of Move the Mountain Leadership Center which introduced Circles™ to North America.   Lambton is the Canadian launch city for the Circles™ campaign.

The concept of Circles™ revolves around a Circle Leader, a family working to get out of poverty, and two to four community Allies, middle class people who are willing to befriend the family and support their way out of poverty.    "These people are able to build relationships across class lines, identify barriers, and implement solutions," said Montgomery.   "Everyone can contribute to the initiative in their own special way."

Two local businessmen, Nathan Colquhoun and Ron Smith, were quick to sign up as Allies and they embraced the opportunity to contribute to the local initiative.   They took on the added task of volunteering much of their time to develop the Circles website at a nominal cost.  "I have the deepest of gratitude for Nathan's generosity and his offer to have his company, Storyboard Solutions, develop this site at nearly no cost to us," said Montgomery.  "It really is amazing to see the support for Circles™ from members of our community.  This initiative is helping people and will continue to help people across our County."
