Sarnia, ON – On Saturday, April 17, dozens of Lambton Safe Roads Volunteers will monitor seatbelt use across Sarnia-Lambton as part of the Spring Seatbelt Campaign that runs April 14 to April 24.
"Using seatbelts is the single most effective way to reduce vehicle-related injuries and fatalities," says Cathy Powell, Health Promotion Officer with the County of Lambton Community Health Services Department, and Chair of the Lambton Safe Roads Committee.
Lambton College students, in teams of two or more, have been assigned to chart seatbelt use at 14 various locations across the community. The students will be wearing bright clothing and standing in a safe place, away from the traffic.
To promote the proper use of child car seats, a FREE child car seat safety clinic will be held Wednesday, April 21 from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. at the Bert A. Logan Fire Hall, Wellington Street, Sarnia.
