Sarnia, ON – The County of Lambton Community Health Services Department is offering Girl Talk presentations, an ice-breaker for parents and daughters in grades 5 and 6 to discuss changes in puberty and menstruation.

“The goal of the presentations is to make young females more aware of their changing bodies, help them prepare for the onset of menstruation and to help parents feel more comfortable discussing these delicate issues with their children," says Barrie Anne Rayworth-Wilson, Public Health Nurse with Community Health Services.  “Many parents find the subject of menstruation and sexual health difficult to talk about. Girl Talk is a way to begin and maintain an open dialogue between parents and daughters as their bodies begin to grow and change.”

Four sessions are planned in Sarnia-Lambton. Presentations are from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
