Point Edward, ON – A new "Watercolour Show and Sale" by a group of Point Edward watercolour artists know as Studio 220 and Waterlilies is now on display at the Lambton Heritage Museum in Lambton Shores.

Various still life scenes from the museum, including artifacts, buildings and scenery are depicted in the works.   All of the original paintings are available for purchase.

The painters, who go by the name of Studio 220, are also patrons of the Point Edward Library, located at 220 Michigan Avenue.  This group was formed in September 2008 when a six-week art class was offered at the library, under the instruction of patron, artist and teacher, Gretchen Knapp.  Since then, they have met for six-week sessions in the fall and winter.  About the same time, four young girls responded to an advertisement for a four-day introductory watercolour class.  This group is now known as the Waterlilies, and they range in age from grades 5 to 8. Their original work is also for sale.

"Watercolour painting has always been an interest of mine," says Pat McEvoy, Branch Librarian at the Point Edward Library who initiated the group.  "Painting as a group offers much enjoyment and personal satisfaction."

As well as the original matted watercolours, there are also prints and cards for sale.  The "Watercolour Show and Sale" will be hanging at the Lambton Heritage Museum until Thanksgiving.

After taking in the art show and sale, children of all ages can also enjoy the fascinating world of Medieval Times at the Lambton Heritage Museum’s 2010 feature ‘A Medieval Adventure’.  Travel back in time to when lords and ladies dwelt in great castles and knights lived by the Code of Chivalry.  Throughout the gallery, there is a combination of hands-on activities and take-home crafts.

Over the past thirty years the Lambton Heritage Museum has gathered an extensive collection of unique, interesting and sometimes surprising artifacts all donated to the museum so that their history would be saved.  Many tell the intimate history of the people of Lambton County and the surrounding area.  Come for a visit and discover the treasure-trove of antiques collected by generations of Sarnia-Lambton families and take in the art show and sale at the same time.

The Lambton Heritage Museum is open seven days a week; Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., weekends and holidays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m until October 31st, and weekdays during November and December.  Admission is $5. adults, $4. seniors/students, $3. children, $15. family.    The museum is 8 km south of Grand Bend, on Highway 21.  For more information about the Lambton Heritage Museum call 519 243-2600, visit www.lclmg.orgor email heritage.museum@county-lambton.on.ca
