Lambton County, ON – The Medical Officer of Health advises the following update on area beaches that were sampled the week of June 28, 2010.

Beaches Sampled on Lake Huron:

  • Grand Bend (North Beach)
  • Grand Bend (South Beach)
  • Highland Glen
  • Bright’s Grove (including Mike Weir Park)
  • Canatara Park
  • Pinery Provincial Park
  • Ipperwash Main Beach

There are no beaches posted with warning signs at this time.

While no sampling occurs along the St. Clair River, a caution sign advising high bacterial levels following heavy rainfall has been permanently placed at:

  • Branton Cundick Park
  • Brander Park

It should be noted that following heavy rainfall, the water at area beaches may be temporarily polluted for up to 48 hours. Also, if the water has become cloudy due to wave activity, bacteria from the bottom may become suspended and increase the risk of illness.

Sampling continues and updates will follow as necessary.
