Sarnia, ON Ninety years ago in August 1914, sixty five years ago in September 1939 and fifty four years ago in December soldiers from Canada marched off to battle.  Many of them did not come back; this library program is about them.

On Saturday November 6, 2004 at 1:00 PM in the West Room of the Sarnia Library, several short videos will be viewed.  They will include a selection from the several series about Canadians in World War One by Canadian actor Paul Gross.  “The Valour and the Horror: In Desperate Battle: Normandy 1944,” and the short video, “Remembered for evermore” will be viewed.  The last video talks about the act of remembering fallen comrades in arms from the First and Second World Wars and the Korean War.  It also features the war memorials dedicated to the soldiers who died in defence for our freedom in Canada and in various countries around the world.

“The videos will be followed by a discussion,” says Reference Librarian and host Jeff Beeler.  “This will be an opportunity to share information and learn something about what Remembrance Day is all about.”  Seating is limited; please call the Reference Department at 337-3291 to reserve your seat.
