SSEC the place to be for 6th Annual Family New Year’s

Family fun will be in full swing once again at the sixth annual drug and alcohol-free Family New Year’s celebration.  The Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Centre will be the location for the celebration, which runs from noon to 3 p.m. on December 31.  Sponsored by the Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Centre, The FOX 99.9 FM and the Lambton Drug Awareness Action Committee, the event will feature family entertainment and a “Happy New Year” complete with cake (courtesy of Zehrs Food Markets), a ginger ale toast and a balloon drop.  The celebration will have lots of fun things to see and do for kids of all ages.  Featured activities and entertainment will include:

  • Family Skating from Noon to Three in thirty minutes blocks (skate loan available courtesy of Micor)
  • Face Painting & Crafts, decorate your party hat, Nails, Bracelets
  • Life Size “look-alikes” of popular children’s characters!
  • Miniature Obstacle Course, Winnie the Pooh Jump
  • Table top games including bubble hockey, ping pong
  • Entertainment - Denise Chatel, Unipsychos, Sticks and Clones
  • New Year’s Celebration (3 p.m.)

Alison Mahon of Lambton Drug Awareness Action Committee is a spokesperson for the event.  Mahon says, “Parents keep asking if we’re doing it again this year, which shows that the community is really behind the event.  Many local service clubs and businesses have pitched in to help make this event a success.”  Tickets are only $3.95 for adults, $2.00 for seniors and students (children under 10 are free if accompanied by an adult) and are available from the Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Centre Box Office.  For complete details, call the SSEC box office at 541-1717.
