Sarnia, ON - The County of Lambton Community Health Services Department is offering “Girl Talk” presentations for parents and their daughters (Grades 5 and 6 students). Topics include changes in puberty and menstruation.
Barrie Anne Rayworth-Wilson, Public Health Nurse, says “The goal is to make young females more aware of their changing bodies, help them prepare for the onset of menstruation and to help parents feel more comfortable about discussing these delicate issues with their children.”
“Many parents find the subjects of sexual health difficult to talk about. Girl Talk is an ice-breaker to begin and to maintain open dialogue between parents and daughters as their bodies begin to grow and change."
