Partners within the Lambton Shared Services Centre include:


THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT:

Service Canada is your easiest way to access services from the Federal government. It is about improving the delivery of government services.  It helps Canadians access a wide range of the government services and benefits they need quickly and easily.

Service Canada’s goal is to provide Canadians with one-stop, personalized service they can access however they choose – by telephone, internet, or in person. 

Other services include:

  • Canada Pension Plan/Disability benefit applications;
  • Old Age Security applications;
  • Social Insurance Number applications;
  • Labour market information; 
  • Income Support Program; and,
  • Human Resources Investment Program.

Call 1-800 O-Canada (1-800-622-6232) or TTY: 1-800-926-9105.  Or you can visit in person any one of more than 320 Service Canada Centres across the country.  You can find a list of our offices and outreach locations under “Find a Service Canada Centre Near You” at servicecanada.gc.ca.

The Lambton Shared Services Centre houses eight (8) computers and has staff on hand to help clients apply for various programs on the Internet (including Employment Insurance and CPP Retirement).


THE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT:

Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services
Ontario Disability Support Program provides both income support as well as employment supports to persons with disabilities.  To be eligible for ODSP, a person must be 18 years of age or older, be a resident of Ontario, meet a test of financial need, and meet the disability eligibility criteria.  The key objectives are:

  • To meet the income and employment support needs of people with disabilities;
  • To provide income support and health-related benefits to people with disabilities who are in need of financial assistance; and,
  • To provide people with disabilities a continuum of supports that are intended to remove disability-related barriers to employment and lead to competitive employment.

Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU)
The Sarnia branch of Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) administers the Employment Benefits and Support Measures (EBSMs) which provides funding to organizations that deliver employment services and co-ordinate projects that enhance local labour market development. Specific programs include:

  • Skills Development Employment Benefits (SDEB) - Financial support to eligible unemployed people who need marketable skills to return to the labour market.
  • Self Employment Benefits - Income and entrepreneurial support for eligible unemployed people while they develop and start their business.
  • Targeted Wage Subsidy (TWS) - Provides on-the-job work experience to eligible unemployed people who are experiencing difficulty finding work.
  • Job Creation Partnerships (JCP) - Provides work experience to eligible unemployed people with temporary projects that benefit the individual and the community.
  • Employment Assistance Services (EAS) - Assistance for people who are unemployed prepare for, find and keep employment.
  • Local Labour Market Partnership (LLMP) - Supports partnerships among employers, associations and community organizations to address identified labour market issues.

ServiceOntario
Services include:

  • Ontario Business Connects workstations enable clients to search business names, register new businesses and retrieve small business information
  • Selected hunting and fishing licences are available for sale;
  • Purchase of Ministry of Labour publications;
  • Accept Employment Standards Claim Forms;
  • Ministry of Finance drop-off box provided for RST remittance;
  • File Ontario Rental Housing Tribunal applications; and,
  • Commissioner of Oaths services, including Certification of Documents and Affidavits.

THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT:

County of Lambton– Social Services Division
The Social Services Division consists of Ontario Works and Social Planning & Program Support.  Ontario Works provides financial and employment assistance to eligible individuals and families.  Social Planning & Program Support (SPPS) creates and manages the Homelessness Plan and the National Child Benefit Plan. SPPS also manages the Lambton Shared Services Centre.

County of Lambton– Housing Services Department
The Housing Services Department provides rent geared-to-income assistance and affordable housing options to over 2,200 residents of the County of Lambton. In addition to administering the non-profit, co-operative affordable housing and rent supplement programs, the Housing Services Department provides property management for units owned by the County of Lambton.

County of Lambton– Provincial Offences Program
The Provincial Offences Office administers and prosecutes provincial offences, including offences under municipal bylaws and minor federal offences.   These offences include fines issued under the Highway Traffic Act, Liquor Licence Act, Trespass to Property Act, Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act, Game and Fish Act, Bylaws and other provincial and municipal statues.

County of Lambton – Community Health Services Department – Health Promotion  The Health Promotion Team provides services that enable people to increase control over and improve their health in the areas of nutrition, physical activity, injury prevention, tobacco, workplace health, school health, cancer prevention and heart health.

County of Lambton– Community Health Services Department – Tobacco  The Tobacco Team handles a variety of tobacco-related issues:  Cessation specialists assist those ready to quit;  Health Promotion Officers create campaigns and events to heighten community attention on a variety of tobacco-related subjects and they provide support to businesses interested in developing workplace policies; Enforcement Officers and Test Shoppers work closely with businesses to achieve compliance with the Smoke Free Ontario Act and the County’s Smoking in Public Places and Workplaces Bylaw. 


PRIVATE PARTNER:

Lambton County Human Resource Administrative Services Inc. Lambton County Human Resource Administrative Services (LCHRAS) is the manager of Employment Resource Centre which is a program funded by the Ministry of Colleges, Training & Universities. Employment Resource Centre offers support to job seekers, general information about the labour market, careers and employment opportunities. Resources for job hunting include:

  • 15 computers with printers with internet access,
  • Three public telephones,
  • Photocopiers,
  • Two fax machines, and
  • Employment resource services staff.
