School Programs
Students visiting the two story Bury House learn about the lifestyle of a middle class Victorian family of the 1890's e.g Victorian furnishing and decor, heating, lighting, food preparation, textile production, fashion, entertainment...
All tours of the site have a " hands on" aspect and can be adapted to the age level and interest of the class. Classes are divided into small groups of 6 to 8
students for supervised tours by our volunteer staff.
Marine Room
The Marine Room highlights the importance of marine travel, (including ferry service at Sombra), shipping and recreational steam ship excursions.

Agricultural and Technology Room
The artifacts in the Agricultural and Technology Room help the pupil appreciate the hard work, skills and innovations of our forebearers. The range of artifacts include apple cider press, harness maker's seat, policeman's belt lantern,1920 camera,1940's television...

1830's Log Cabin
The 1830's log cabin illustrates the primitive lifestyle of the earlier pioneer through viewing and discussion of building and furniture construction, cooking and food preservation, potash production, heating and lighting.

Christmas Programme
Toys, Christmas greeting cards and activities such as gift making, food treats and tree trimming are all holiday traditions that can be experienced in the Bury House
The cost of Museum tours or Christmas programme is $25.00 per class (based on a class size of 25 pupils, their teacher and parent supervisors). An extra cost for treats or craft supplies may apply. Bookings must be made in advance.

Reference Room Files
A variety of vertical files on historical topics such as past communities, businesses, schools, churches, cemetaries, ships, local industry, which illustrate the heritage of the former Sombra Township are available for loan to students and teachers doing research on local history. A copy of the directory for these files is also available.
